On occasion, but by no means all of the time, at the moment of attempting to
post a message to one or more of the Macintosh newsgroups I get a message
stating something to the effect that I cannot use Earthlink. What's wierd is
that I do not have an earthlink account. My newsgroup postings are made via
Road Runner.

The problem is usually Earthlink. They do not maintain the
newservers well at all. For some reason, all of a sudden the
newsservers will stop recognizing you as a member of Earthlink or
the server you are coming from as even being related to
them--even when it is their own servers such as their dialups.

When that happens, just switch to the other server set, either
east or west, which ever is the one you were not currently using.
They usually seem to fix it before the other set get screwed up
and you have to switch back.

BTW, a better group for this question (and MUCH previous
discussion on it) can be found on the Earthlink newsgroup
earthlink.support.usenet (only available from within their
network of course).

Hope this helps

Jeff,

Yes it does, very much! Many thanks. At least I now have confidence that I'm
not doing something stupid. And thanks for the newsgroup reference.

Jim
