Hi all -
I have a Mac laptop running OS9.2 (not OSX) and a PC laptop running
Windows 2000. Both are on a wireless LAN in my house (connected to a Linksys
wireless router). What's the easiest way to transfer files between the
machines? I can imagine running an FTP server on one, and a client on the
other; is there a more elegant solution? If both were Macs, I could use the
"File Sharing" feature. Can a PC participate in any of this? If anyone has
any info, please cc: to ***@comcast.net. Thanks!

That depends. Do you consider a web server "more elegant" than an FTP
server? :-) I've used Web Sharing from MacOS 9 on occasion to get a file
from my Mac to a nearby Windows PC.

To do file sharing for free, use FTP or as the prior poster mentions,
use Web Sharing. You may place a folder or an alias of a folder in
the shared web folder. In the web browser when you navigate to this
folder, you will see a file list.

To get a more elegant solution, you will have to pay for it. See
Dave for the Mac or PC Lan for the PC. You could also upgrade to
10.2.
